Editor-in-Chief, David Fine
David Fine is a junior at Columbia hailing from Dallas, TX. When not holed up in Butler Library, he enjoys prolonged conversations with friends, New York City’s cultural diversions and Ken Jennings’ Twitter feed. His quixotic desire to find the best cup of coffee in New York is only dwarfed by his hunt for writers to publish in The Current. If you would like to help him with either, please email him at [email protected].
Managing Editor, Eric Shapiro
Eric is a junior studying Economics and Philosophy. He is proud to help uphold the standards of The Current as a valuable space for intellectual discourse. His interests include complex sentences, overdressing, and chatting up Jewish mothers. If you’d like him to meet yours, email him at [email protected].
Senior Editor, Sam Schube
Arts & Literary Editor, David Myers
Creative Editor, Jeremy Liss
Jeremy Liss is a Columbia junior majoring in English and Comparative Literature. His favorite authors are Vladimir Nabokov and Virginia Woolf. His hobbies include beatboxing, ping pong, and guitar. If you’ve seen his wallet, please contact him at [email protected].

Julia is a junior in Columbia College majoring in Psychology and Human Rights. Her (very long) list of favorite things includes postcards, pomegranate chapstick, and San Francisco, her hometown. As resident shiksa of The Current’s editorial board, she enjoys learning the definitions of Yiddish words and incorporating them into her vocabulary. She can say the alphabet backwards just as quickly as she can sing it forwards; to set up a date to hear her do this or see her without her sunglasses on, email her at [email protected].
Contributing Editor, Brian Sit
Brian Sit is a junior from Columbia majoring in History. His favorite place in the world is his hometown Manhasset, New York. Takes pride in the fact that he genuinely enjoyed the Core Curriculum and takes an equally absurd amount of joy from a good cup of tea.
Contributing Editor, Shira Poliak
Shira Poliak is a Barnard junior majoring in history and passionate about investigative reporting. True to herSouth Florida roots, Shira is happiest when lying on the beach, covered in sand and with a good book or newspaper in hand. Always up for an adventure, she also enjoys traveling and biking. Shira’s writing has been published in The Hill, The Jerusalem Post and The Columbia Spectator and she has done research forInside Job director Charles Ferguson and ProPublica.
Web Editor, Michael Rubin
Michael Rubin, webmaster extraordinaire, is a junior in Columbia College majoring in the Computer Science combination track with Physics. While at first glance, it seems like he sought out the two nerdiest departments he could find at school and just mashed them together, don’t be fooled; Michael is a true jock at heart, making the playoffs in the Columbia intramural basketball league after being scouted out to join the team following his beastly performance during a game of Ultimate. If you’re looking for a comp sci tutor, or you think this website is just really bad, he can be reached at [email protected].
Layout Editor, Dafna Feith
Photo Editor, Isabella Joslin
Isabella is a junior at Columbia College from Cambridge, Massachusetts. She loves witty banter, childhood hand games, and laughing until her sides hurt. She plans to do all of these with the staff, writers, and readers of The Current. If you’re interested in joining the fun, email her at [email protected].
Staff Writer, Aminadav Grossman
Aminadav Grossman enjoys history and is a Boston Red Sox fan. In fact, as a pre- teen baseball enthusiast, he was so devoted that he memorized the participants and results of every World Series in its history. Feel free to test his memory at your leisure. His pastimes include studying ancient texts in a language no longer spoken and reading academic articles while on the treadmill. He can now claim to having fallen asleep standing up although he feels gratified that he can say he never has had a caffeinated cup of coffee.
Staff Writer, Max Daniel
Max Daniel is a sophomore in the Columbia/JTS Joint Program majoring in American Studies and Jewish Literature. From the suburbs of Chicago, he enjoys attending concerts, reading old books, and never missing an opportunity to brag about his extensive collection of Bob Dylan bootlegs.
